The Basel Peace Forum which will focus on the global challenges of urban migration, public health, and peace in cities, Daniel Winzenried and Cintia Jaime will lead a workshop with an innovative point of view: “Neu-ruralization: the realistic alternative to overcrowded cities?” This workshop will look for alternatives to displace the current logic of investing in cities as a solution to curb the raging urban violence and the many bad impacts generated by urban overpopulation, move beyond the logic of relating rural towns as they were in the past, and co-create a plan aligned with today’s world, taking advantage of the opportunities of technology to sustainably repopulate rural cities, balance the balance of investments and boost peace in the world.
