The Center for Philanthropy Studies of the University of Basel (CEPS) invited Cintia Jaime to share the ES VICIS Foundation’s experience and work that lead to the creation of the program “Welcome to my village”. The program, offering an economic solution to the major challenge rural-urban migration represents worldwide, has raised great interest. It is within this context that Cintia presented the program with the first results of its pilot project in Colonia Belgrano, Argentina to the university students. These accomplishments show that this long-standing migration trend can rapidly be reversed by taking advantage of existing economic opportunities in the villages and through the development of a plan to support families in the migration process, to set up new sustainable businesses and to acquire or build their own home.
